Portugal Geopolítico

Compete a Portugal saber projectar-se. Não no que é igual aos outros países, mas no que é diferente ou mesmo único. Para ter uma voz no coração da União Europeia (UE) e no Mundo, e não apenas uma presença física na periferia ocidental do continente europeu.

Partindo do suposto que a sua herança milenar ainda lhe pode ensinar a sobreviver na corrida dos mais fortes, pondera-se a hipótese de aproveitar a experiência e a aprendizagem com erros materiais e humanos do passado, para elaborar um projecto racional mas humanista, que vise a confirmação de Portugal e da sua língua, na dinamização do espaço atlântico e no estreitar de laços entre os países que dele fazem parte – esforço permanente, pois não é dado adquirido.

Depois de séculos de conflito armado, baseados na desconfiança mútua, Portugal e Espanha atravessam na actualidade um período de paz prolongado, baseado na comunicação e na confiança mútua. 1986 foi o ano que marcou verdadeiramente a viragem geopolítica cujo padrão já se avizinhava desde a relação de proximidade Salazar/Franco.
